Foxconn has been heard to have gone on a large scale recruiting of workers for theproduction of the next iPhone. The reason for this sudden step is hundreds of workers of the Northern China having gone on strike regarding salary dispute. Thecompany is making attempt to hire around 20,000 workers as the iPhone 5 release date is set for October this year. However, following the current pattern like a five month lead time, it seems that Apple is back on its new iPhone launch for summer/WWDC pattern that it maintained until last year.
For Foxconn, Apple is important and so is its production. The company claims to get approximately 85% of the iPhone order. Therefore, it’s ready for the mass hiring of workers even on the basis that they meet up the basic standards. The company’s setting up a new base for the iPhone production and is in need of more workers especially now that so many workers were on strike. Negotiations are on between them and the factory so hopefully some resolution might soon come up.
The strike went off because the workers complained of not having received the raise in pay as promised by the company though the managers and technicians had got the raise. The location of the factory has been a major reason behind low labor wages though an expansion plan was heard of to build up the world’s largest smart phonesmanufacturing base in Zhengzhou, China.
According to a reliable source at Foxconn, the iPhone 5 is now gearing for productionwith different sample devices having come out displaying iPhone 5 features like a 4+ inch LG display and a slightly wider form but none of it is yet confirmed to be the final version.
