News report indicate that smartphone shipments in China this year are expected to go up by 52% in an attempt to beat the US market for the first time ever. It is very important that Apple reaches a good percentage of the Chinese market as up till now the Apple’s partnerships with China’s second and third largest carriers have given it access to around 34% of the country’s 988 million mobile users.
Samsung on the other hand is in partnership with all carriers targeting the entire Chinese market unlike Apple holding only 7.5% of iPhone market share in China. The Apple has limited its success by not going through making a China Mobile compatibledevice which is very important as China Mobile is the biggest carrier in the country.
Apple is not expected to take over Samsung market share in Chinain the near future as reported by Gartner analyst Sandy Shen. The gap between Apple and Samsungshare has kept on increasing in China, having doubled in a short time which places the Cupertinoon the 5th position over there while Samsung stands at 1st.
Even though Apple is behind companies like Samsung, Nokia and ZTA Corp in the Chines smartphone market, iPhone craving among users is still there. Apple dominates the world profit share and it needs to make aChinamobile compatible device as soon as possible to make its position stronger in the Chinese market too.
