Retina Display is a feature that’s no longer restricted to iOS devices only for now even the Mac OS has come up with HiDPI Retina images, the latest among them being the 2X in Mountain Lion Messages. It hints at much more about the upcoming Mac. The HiDPI is definitely going to have a tremendous effect on the Macs.
Display: The Macs to be coming out in the near future are certainly going to have super-high resolution displays with a possible 16:9 aspect ratio. The distance between a Mac and its user is much more as compared to a user and a tablet or phone so as to keep the Retina’s intensity less than that of the new iPad’s

.
An HiDPI Retina display costs quite a lot and while Apple plans to bring down the cost of its iOS devices, it won’t be able to do the same with its upcoming Mac book as their sales are much low compared to that of iOS devices. Besides that, HiDPI displays use a lot of battery as well as GPU power to run.
Battery: With an increase in display it is obvious that the upcoming Mac with Retinadisplay would require atleast a 70% bigger battery. However, as seen in laptopsdisplays do not seem to influence battery draining and Intel processors like the Ivy Bridge are heard to use less power which in turn will be able to make up for the extra power needed for the HiDPI.
Weight: Apple added a bit of thickness to its new iPad to adjust the extra battery that it used as well as extra LEDs. However, at the same time it could cut down on the time it takes to charge the iPad by working on increasing the battery power. What theCupertinocould do is reduce the Optical and counterbalance the extra battery.
Heat: With the reduced size of the CPU, the Macbook it seems would get hotter on running.
RAM: Although the new iPad has come with double RAM than its predecessor, theRetina Display uses up a lot of it. It is expected of theCupertinoto go for the 8GB and 16GB Macs as the price factor for an 8GB is around or less than $40.
- A new Gig Wi-Fi of Broadcom has a new Gig Wi-Fi could be a welcome addition this year to stand up to the speed of Gig Ethernet.
- Intel’s Ivy Bridge supports USB 3 devices that means a much faster out-of-box connector if you find Thunderbolt peripherals too costly.
- Apple is steering clear off Optical and ofcourse that would result in the high-end Pros going over to the Air platform without optical and Ethernet.
- Apple is expected to release a lower price Thunderbolt dock, one without the display resulting in more people going for legacy ports as well as allowing Apple to ship a MacBook Pro without an Ethernet Port, Firewire.
