Is Apple working with Haptic Touch Technology? And how this technology is different from others?
As we all are acquainted with the link of Apple Products and rumors! You might have also pragmatic that whenever a new Apple product is introduced in the market; it is always surrounded by different unmentionable unwanted rumors. Then how it was going to leave the New iPad!
It also happened with the New iPad (Newest Apple Product). Initially, it was told that the new iPad is going to have the facility of “Haptic Touch Technology”. But, when the reality came, it was seen that no such technology was pioneered.
In this article we will see that What is Haptic Feedback Technology? And who invented it! Also, we will take a look at How Apple Working with this Technology? And how it is different from other touch- based devices”! Also, why Force Sensors are used?
Firstly, let’s take a brief look on the Haptic Feedback Technology! This technology will allow the user to “feel” the button.
Advantage of Haptic Touch Technology: -
Apple’s system will use piezoelectric actuators for “Localized Haptic Feedback” and that would allow the user to feel a virtual button on their fingertips.
The actuators are used to replace the mechanical click of a mouse or would allow the users to feel selectable buttons or icons displayed on a touchscreen device.
As per Apple, the issues with existing touch-based interface in the patent application:
“Existing touch-based user interfaces do not provide haptic feedback to a user. Haptic feedback may be any type of tactile feedback that takes advantage of a user’s sense of touch, for example, by applying forces, vibrations, and/or motions to the user. The user can typically only feel the rigid surface of the touch screen, making it difficult to find icons, hyperlinks, textboxes, or other user-selectable input elements that are being displayed. A touch-based user interface may help a user navigate content displayed on the display screen by incorporating haptic feedback. For example, localized haptic feedback can enable a user to feel what is being displayed by providing feedback when a user locates a virtual button, selects the virtual button and/or confirms the selection of the virtual button”.
Force Sensors:-
The Force sensors are used to make the difference between scroll and click command:
“The force sensors 315 may allow for distinguishing between various input gestures that may be associated with different commands. In one embodiment, the force sensors may be used to differentiate between a click and a scroll command. As an example, the processing device may associate a higher amount of force, such as from a tapping motion, with a click command and a lower amount of force, such as from a gliding motion, with a scroll command (or vice versa)”.
