Muahz.Net Bridge – Analysts all have predicted that the tablet PC market would be bustling in 2012, when the products get cheaper and more powerful.
In 2011, The Gioi Di Dong, one of the biggest digital product distributors in Vietnam, sold 1000 tablets of different brands a month. The best sellers were iPad 2 wifi 3G 16G and Samsung Galaxy Tab P7500.
The upward tendency will be seen all over the world
According to Digitimes Research, it is expected that 100 million tablets would be sold in the world in 2012, a sharp increase of 60 percent over 2011.The market survey firm believes that the market share of tablet products would increase significantly worldwide, because tablets are getting cheaper, the hardware is getting more powerful. Meanwhile, clients can enjoy many associated software pieces, while the service fee has also been decreasing.
To date, Apple’s tablets remain the leaders in the market in terms of the number of products sold. According to Strategy Analytics 2011, 15.4 million Apple tablets were sold which accounted for 58 percent of the market share.
Samsung has also reaped fruits from its tablets. In 2011, it marketed six tablet models of Galaxy Tab, of which the ones with the sizes of seven inches and 10.1 inches were the most favorite. The manufacturer hopes to sell 10 million tablets all over the world in 2012.
Nguyen Van Dao, Deputy General Director of Samsung Vietnam (Savina), also said that tablet is the strategic product of the brand, and that Samsung’s products would have different sizes to meet different tastes of users.
Asus, Acer, Lenovo, Amazon, Archos, Motorola have also gathered strength on developing tablets. Amazon proves to be a redoubtable rival for Apple and Samsung with its Kindle Fire. The product not only is cheap (5.5 million dong), but it also has the big advantage of the content store of films and books.
Asus, Acer and Lenovo have been launching new products into the market regularly. After Eee Pad Transformer, Asus has introduced Eee Pad Transformer Prime. Acer, though only having one series Iconia, but it has different designs with different configurations for customers’ choice. Lenovo has introduced its first tablet line IdeaPad K1. The biggest advantage of the products is the low price.
Vietnam: there’ll be wide range of products for choices
Tablets are really not the products which can bring the highest turnover to manufacturers and distributors. However, with the new consumption tendency, manufacturers would not miss the opportunity to expand the market share with tablets.
At the 2012 electronics exhibition in Las Vegas in the US in January, big electronics manufacturers introduced different tablet series that caught the attention of users, distributors and retailers.
Asus has had Eee Pad Transformer Prime with Nvidia Tegra 3, quad core chip and internal memory of 32GB and 64GB, HDMI portal. Samsung has introduced the latest version of Galaxy Tab series running on 4G (LTE). Toshiba has some 10 tablet models.
Toshiba’s products have been selling in Vietnam for a long time. However, most of the products available on the market are the ones carried out to Vietnam across the border, not the products imported through official channels.
Vietnamese users have also been told that they can expect many new product series, mostly from the brands which remain unfamiliar to them. In 2011, FPT once caught the attention from the public when marketing its tablets. In 2012, low cost tablets are expected to appear on the market with the prices of 4-5 million dong only. The products are made by ZTE and Huawei which cannot compete with others in terms of quality and designs, but the low cost products would be the reasonable choice for low income earners.
