Muahz.Net Bridge - Italian football international star Fabio Cannavaro, who played for world famous FCs as Inter Milan, Juventus, Real Madrid, had two busy days in HCM City, January 6-8.
The former center defender visited HCM City at the invitation of Eximbank, who sponsored the event.
Cannavaro is the 2006 World Cup champion and winner of the Best Player of the World in the same year.
The former football star was warmly welcomed by Vietnamese fans at the Tan Son Nhat Airport on January 6.
Many football fans came to Thong Nhat Stadium early on January 7 to watch the former captain of the Italian team play football with the Vietnam U15 team.
The Italian star ran a skills training session at the stadium for 20 U15 footballers then divided 20 footballers into two teams for a 30 minute friendly match. The team with Cannavaro on it won the match 1-0 but the European football star could not score a penalty goal at the end of the match.
Many football fans flowed into the stadium to see their idol and Cannavaro was very happy to sign autographs and take photos with the fans. The Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation also presented a souvenir to Cannavaro.
The short exchange left a deep impression on fans as well as valuable lessons for the young Vietnamese footballers. In the afternoon, Cannavaro watched a match between Saigon FC and Hoang Anh Gia Lai in the second round of the Super League at Thong Nhat Stadium.
On January 8, thousands of fans had a chance to shake hands, take photos and embrace their idol at an exchange.
Cannavaro flew to Dubai in the evening of the same day, ending his three-day visit to Vietnam.
