So now that the basics are outlined, here we go:
Both the Samsung Galaxy S3 features and iPhone 5 features that have been rumored so far are nothing less than stunning. There’s quite a lot of competition going on between Samsung and Apple already, and this could probably be a hot-spot for both the companies. Incidentally, experts think that both the smartphones could arrive close to each other.
Form-factor, Display Resolution and Handling
Samsung Galaxy S3: When it comes to Android phones, bigger has always been better. However, with smartphones like Samsung Galaxy Note, the company has taken the saying beyond the limits. We sure do not expect the Samsung Galaxy S3 to be as big, it still is going to be larger than the iPhones. A 4-inch display could be in the offing. Furthermore, the handling would be as much similar to the S2.
iPhone 5: Of the things that are going to change for the first time on and iPhone, the display size could be the first one. For long, Steve had fixed the size at 3.5” – the most fitting one for a comfortable usage. But the Android phones had changed the scene since the introduction of their large screen smartphones – and iPhone 5 could boast of a larger-than-3.5” screen for the first time.
OS and Apps
Samsung Galaxy S3: The competition between Android and iOS has been on for long. Android marketplace is catching up fast in quantity of the apps – about 250,000+ apps are already on the Android Marketplace. The Samsung Galaxy S3 will also feature many built-in Google apps and Samsung Apps too custom built for the smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy S3 will mostly run Android 4.0 ICS.
iPhone 5: On the iPhone 5, there is instant access to the App Store – with over 400,000 apps available for download. One good thing about the App Store has been the quality of the apps – as Apple themselves check each and every app that is being sold through their App Store.
iPhone 5 might run iOS 5 (or iOS 6 but that looks quite improbable for now).
3G / 4G HSDPA ??
Samsung Galaxy S3: Now this is where it gets even more suspicious. The SamsungGalaxy series already came out with one 4G-capable smartphone and this makes us suspect that the Samsung Galaxy S3 features could boast of 4G capability.
iPhone 5: With the iPhone 5, the suspicion is a bit far-fetched yet not baseless. AT&T, Verizon and many other networks are working on their 4G networks across the country. If this be the case, it could also catalyze iPhone developers to include 4G capability in the list of iPhone 5 features.
Processor and Memory
Samsung Galaxy S3: Samsung smartphones come with an advantage here. Besides the usual 16 GB / 32 GB Internal storage, the smartphones also boast of expandable microSD card slot giving you an instant addition of up to 32GB to the smartphone’s storage capacity.
Besides this, the Quad-core processor might get a shot in the arm with some powerful processing speeds added to it.
iPhone 5: The iPhone 5 will, as usual, come with the ARM processor. But it’s an upgraded version – the A6. That should pack a lot of power for the iPhone 5. However, as regards storage, the story remains similar to the previous iPhones – 16, 32 and 64 GB variants only, no additional memory supported.
