Muahz.Net Bridge – Blood reserves at the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion is not enough for one-day treatment. Therefore, a blood donation festival will be held on the occasion of the Valentine Day (February 14).

Dr. Nguyen Anh Tri, Director of the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, said that the institute’s blood bank currently has less than 400 units of blood, while it has nearly 600 patients. The institute also has to supply blood to 107 hospitals in northern Vietnam.“We have three specialized cars that transport blood among hospitals so statistics fluctuate often. But in general, blood reserve is in severe shortage,” Dr. Tri said.

To have more blood for treatment, the institute will combine with Hanoi to organize a blood donation festival, named Pink Spring Festival 2012, on February 12 at the My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi.

The organizing board expects to attract more than 25,000 blood donors and collect around 6,000 units of blood.

Around 500 couples will participate in the event, on the occasion of the Valentine Day.

The organizing board has prepared 200 taxis and dozens of buses to carry blood donors from Hanoi’s hub to the My Dinh Stadium from 6.30am to 5pm of February 12.
